About Rutledge Falls Baptist Church
Rutledge Falls Baptist Church is a historic Southern Baptist congregation located in rural Middle Tennessee, averaging approximately 200 in Sunday morning worship. Our church has a healthy, multi-generational congregation with a strong and growing presence of children and youth. Rutledge Falls was established over 130 years ago. Over the years, God has graciously provided a debt-free, beautiful facility, giving us many opportunities for ministry, growth, and outreach. We are a Bible-centered, mission-minded church that affirms the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and is committed to the authority and inerrancy of Scripture. We are active partners with the Southern Baptist Convention, Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, and the Duck River Baptist Association.
The Opportunity
The Full-Time Pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader and shepherd of the church, leading a growing, multi-generational congregation.
This role is ideal for a man who
- Loves expository preaching and teaching God’s Word
- Has a strong passion for evangelism and reaching the lost
- Demonstrates an ability to effectively disciple members to become more mature followers of Christ
- Has a clear, intentional approach to increasing member engagement and participation Is proactive in developing strategies to reach guests and connect them into the life of the church
- Values and supports a strong families ministry, including children and youth
- Is energized by leading a church with both strong heritage and future potential
- Leads with humility, conviction, and vision
Primary Responsibilities
- Preaching & Teaching
- Faithfully prepare and preach biblical, expository sermons during weekly services
- Teach Scripture clearly to promote spiritual growth and maturity
- Ensure doctrinal integrity across all teaching ministries
- Shepherding & Pastoral Care
- Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care for the congregation across all generations
- Minister to members during times of need — hospitalization, grief, and crisis
- Offer biblical counseling, including premarital counseling
- Officiate weddings and funerals as appropriate
- Evangelism & Community Engagement
- Lead the church in developing and maintaining a strong culture of evangelism
- Equip and encourage members to actively share their faith in the community
- Create and oversee a clear process for welcoming, following up with, and connecting guests into the life of the church
- Promote outreach strategies that reach new families, including those with children and youth
- Promote participation in missions and cooperative ministry
- Leadership & Vision
- Provide clear, Christ-centered vision for the church’s future
- Collaborate closely with deacons, staff, and ministry leaders
- Develop measurable goals for church growth, attendance, and engagement
- Foster a culture where every member is encouraged to discover and serve using their spiritual gifts
- Provide intentional leadership in assimilating new members into the life of the church
- Church Administration
- Lead, love and challenge church staff
- Provide leadership in planning, organizing, and evaluating ministries
- Work with leadership on budgeting and stewardship
- Maintain strong relationships with associational, state, and national Baptist partners
Qualifications
- Candidates should demonstrate:
- A clear testimony of salvation in Jesus Christ
- A clear calling to pastoral ministry
- Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000)
- Biblical qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5
- Strong commitment to the authority and inerrancy of Scripture
- Proven ability to preach and teach effectively
- A shepherd’s heart with relational and approachable leadership style
- Demonstrated ability to lead in evangelism, outreach, and church growth strategies
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Minimum 2-week vacation annually
- After 5 years of service, 30-day sabbatical available
- Off campus parsonage brick home 4 bed, 2.5 bath
